"This song came from an experience not many years ago. I'm from a small town in the southwest & at the time, my siblings had gone to the military and my closest friends had all grown up and moved to bigger cities. I had plans to follow, but no approval from God on them. I felt as if God had put me in my own personal seclusion. Feeling frustrated, defiant, & immature.. I asked God, 'Why?" This song, in a sense, is His response. At the time, my own interests and desires out weighed my love and desire for God Himself, our greatest pleasure. My heart was not fully His and so He got my attention. Is our God not gracious and merciful? His ways are perfect long before we reason them!

I'm sure most of us remember a time when we went our own way, thinking that whatever we could plan might be better than what God has in store (& He has very much for those who love Him). This song is for us. If not, I'm sure we know someone in that position right now. This song is for them. From the Father on His porch, watching for the first sign of His son. All praise to our most gracious and merciful God, whose loving kindness endures forever!
