Tenth Avenue North - Deconstructing Forgive Me - The Story Behind the Song
Mike Donehey deconstructs the song "Forgive Me" off Tenth Avenue North Islands EP at AIR1 Radio.
"I wanted to be really careful with the lyrics here.
Because I feel like a lot of times when people pray "Forgive Me" they think they are having to get saved again and again and again.
The lyrics of the chorus say "forgive me, for living like I'm not yours. I forget how kind you are. You are the light to my foolish heart."
The whole idea is don't forgive me so I can be saved again. Forgive me for not living like I'm not saved, forgive me for not believing how good you are.
Because Roman 2 says His kindness leads us to repentance.
So hopefully this song will help lead people to repentance.
It is called Forgive Me."
