This is 2016, um, three days before my thirteenth anniversary, and I had just found out news that was gonna shatter my marriage and just completely reconstruct my identity. I found myself in a conversation with my husband. I couldn’t look in his eyes. Every word he said was just piercing my heart. A lot of things break when a divorce happens. There truly is a tearing. It’s pretty scary because you just don’t know who you are without that - that’s my adult life being married, it was having this other person to lean on. I was faced with a mountain and it was like this, mountain is massive. My fear was consuming. I fought the people around me, I pushed them away, and I tried to go at it alone for a season. And I remember feeling at one point like I was kind of steering the wheel of this massive ship while holding onto ten lines.

And that’s when I realized I just needed to let go of that control and trust. And it was in that, just walking in the unknown with faith, that allowed me to start trusting again. I’ve experienced so much growth just walking through this, journeying through this. It’s given me a ton of self perspective. It feels like I’m being introduced to me. And it’s like this me that God has known all along. So looking back, that fear was real. Fear was legitimate. And that mountain was massive, but I moved that mountain. And I realized God was with me every single step of the way. Through every trial, through every decision, through every, like, the deepest pain, and just the biggest struggle. Where I breathed in fear, I exhaled with faith.
