After her parents divorced and were forced to sell her childhood home, my wife felt untethered in the world. It was as if she had lost a part of herself. At the same time, we were busy raising our own kids. I don’t think it hit her until around Christmas when she realized that the place she was born was no longer a place she could return too. I wrote this song as a letter and a promise to her. Maybe “home” isn’t something we find or lose but something we build together. I wanted her to know that I was willing to give my life to build that with her.

**LIGHTS**
Our days are gifts
Wrapped up in nights
In the lonely abyss
Our bodies burn bright
'Cause home is talking to us
And it sounds like God and Christmas
We've lost some friends
People we loved
Life it won't quit
We flitter in the flux
And home calls to who you are
And it sounds like Christmas and God
And it sounds like Christmas and God
Light's on the tree
They don't go out
They don't go out
For you and me
There are some things
That happen to you
You know I would fix
I wish they weren't true
But home is here where you are
With me and Christmas and God
Light's on the tree
They don't go out
They don't go out
For you and me
